Jenay Wright, a New York native who was born and raised in the Bronx, graduated with her Bachelors in Journalism with a concentration in Magazine Writing & Editing. She is a proud Afro-Latina whose infatuated with everything and anything to do with the African Diaspora . She is of African American & Panamanian decent. Jenay is currently run a blog, #IamEnough, dedicated to empowering Afro-Latina women. She a corky , goofy , outspoken and optimistic brown girl.
Her biggest flaw was her over all appearance. From her hair texture to her body features. Jenay had no confidence and the word self -love use to be foreign to her ears.
This was her flaw because she cared to much about what society thought of her. She let their perceptions control what she thought of herself. The truth is society will never be satisified . But if your like Jenay who use to listen and cares what people thought your only hurting yourself. What matters the most is what you think of yourself and if you role with that girl your one step ahead of everyone else.
At 22 years old, Jenay is the most confident she has ever been. She still have work to, but she is getting there. Jenay really had to wake up and smell the coffee and tell herself “you are somebody. You were created for a purpose and you have to know yor worth”. She was born to a strong mother who always reminded her how beautiful and important she was so she has to carry on that legacy. She had to start loving herself and everything that comes along with it. It’s a good feeling obtaining self-love. It was depressing have no self-esteem.
Jenay’s Advice, “Go to the mirror, look in the mirror and stay there for as long as you need to. The mirror is your reflection , you can’t hide from you. Tell yourself exactly what you will tell another young girl who battles with confidence to love herself because she is special. Accept yourself for who you are and embrace you! Don’t leave that mirror until you tell yourself I love you and mean it because that was my wake up call”.
